Before and After’s

I have been working feverishly for the last few weeks on my new studio! I can’t wait to show it all off. I did lots of painting! Here are the before and after shots!I  scored this beautiful old wood piece at an auction. It holds so much stuff in these deep drawers!This desk was also another auction find! Found the perfect hardware at Hobby Lobby.This was the bottom of the hutch that belonged to my mom forever! Long ago we chopped off the top half and made it into a bookshelf.Everything was painted with chalk paint and waxed for the finish!

Let me also show you some empty/full contrast photos!This amazing piece deserves a post all it’s own, really. I got this from a neighbor who had it in his garage. His grandfather worked at an old post office and brought it home when they remodeled years and years ago. I believe it is around 100 years old. It is not only beautiful, it is soooo functional. I did nothing to it but clean it up!Just thought you’d like to see the closet before and after. One final contrast photo is from a look inside the door. The first photo is when it was my son’s room. While the guitar playing was the focus of my photo, notice the room to get the impact of the before and after shots.

Ladders

I have this thing about old ladders. I love them! Maybe it’s because my dad was a paint contractor and they make me think of him. Years ago, I found a chippy white wooden ladder at an antique store. At the time we were decorating my daughter’s room. She loves Winnie the Pooh. The ladder was the perfect place to display her friends.

Well, at the auction I mentioned a few posts back, I scored big with two ladders. They sat in my garage for a couple of weeks but over the weekend I found their homes. A taller red one is now displaying old photos in the basement.

The other one is holding a few plants on the patio.

I love them! And I love that I only paid $3 for both!!

My First Auction!

Believe it or not, I went to my very first auction last week. It was a blast! I think I may be addicted! I only spent $9.68 and come home with a pretty good haul!I’m not sure what I’m going to do with the ladders yet. I just like old ladders. I love enamel ware. The big white one will definitely be filled with geraniums soon. This is an altered photo of one from my last year’s flowers.

I love the hat boxes! I plan to decoupage them with papers from old books or sheet music. I’ll post those when I get them done.

I also scored a wooden topped card table and this little white stool that now sits on my front porch.

Now, I must admit, I also got more for my $9.68. It’s just that I didn’t particularly WANT that stuff. Some is garage sale worthy and some just went into the trash! I’m linking up with
