Well, I’ve spent the last 12 days in total awe of the creative talent of Tim Holtz. Every year he does a 12 Tags of Christmas series on his blog. It is like getting an online art course! I’ve learned so many new techniques and tricks from this. I wanted to share a favorite.
See those little hanging tags? The picture doesn’t do them justice. They really are like charms. Here’s a closeup.
It was a bit time consuming but so worth it and fun. Here’s how it works in my simple terms. You adhere clear packing tape to an image, then soak the tape in warm water. With your fingers rub off the paper until completely gone. This leaves you with just the image. Glue this with a clear drying glue to a plastic or glass facet and let dry. Add a piece of adhesive silver to the back and burnish down hard. Use an exacto knife to trim edges. Sand the edges, and finally poke the hole with a piercer. Is this as clear as mud? Well, your in luck because I’ve linked for you Tim’s tutorial here. So, go check it out. The possibilities with this technique are endless. I’m thinking jewelry!
