Weddings

Lately, I’ve had a few wedding orders for a variety of projects. They have been super fun! I LOVE working with brides! So, I thought it was time for a post of some of those projects.

First off the flowers. My latest bride wanted her groom to be special so he gets a vintage music boutonniere and the groomsmen get vintage book boutonnieres. The moms and grandmas get these pretty brooch corsages.Another wedding had these yummy yellow flowers.

I am in love with the idea of these hangers. This bride wants her photo of the dresses hanging to be special. It also makes a great gift for the bridesmaids. How about a vintage guest book? Then there the  decorations. These were at my son’s wedding so they were extra special to make.I’ve been so inspired I think I may try my hand at more. Nothing is more special than a wedding. Well, maybe the babies coming. Hmmmm. A whole new project set to think about.

Next stop on the tour

I showed you this shot from my door yesterday with the promise of more details. So here we go.While I’m tempted to start with what I think is more fun. I will be a good tour guide and go in order. There is no close up of my cricut machine but I do love it! This machine has a little more heritage and has seen a lot of mileage. It was my mother’s before I inherited it and I’ve had it for over 25 years. It was the “Cadillac” of it’s time. I’ve been told to never get rid of it because they don’t make them like this anymore. Sometimes the computerized machines are tempting but this old girl has done just fine. I used to use it to make matching dresses for my girls, then when they ceased to be impressed with handmade clothes, I took on home decor and quilting. Now it’s major use is to sew on paper!! A few stitches can make any card look all the better.

On my computer desk is this jar. I saw this great idea on a blog to create an inspiration jar.  The idea was to write out random ideas for projects and then just pick one from the jar when you felt creative. Well, if you look closely you’ll see I managed to write one idea down. My problem certainly isn’t ideas. It’s the opposite, I have so many things on my “to do” list that to just pick something just for the heck of it hasn’t really worked for me. Maybe I should put candy in the jar instead. Now that would inspire me!You’ll see I have an addiction to enamel ware. I just love the stuff. It is so chippy and vintage. It makes for great storage as well.
This little bowl holds a bunch of my cutout vintage photos. My family thinks it’s creepy to have a bowl full of people. It seems perfectly normal to me. It’s not like they talk to me or anything :)

Also on my desk sits this adorable little pin cushion I bought at Simply Bungalow.

Okay, this one is a little crazy. I do so love making things pretty that I hated having a container of baby wipes sitting on my desk. But they sure come in handy when you use a lot of ink. I found this cute little tin container and it fits the wipes inside just perfectly. So, I have them handy yet out of sight.

Nothing exciting here. But you have to have a place for the printer and paper when you use one as much as I do. It is a bit of a pain standing on my head to load it in the back slot though. Oh well, keeps the blood flowing. Now here’s the part I think is fun! I needed a place to stand and work and was stumped as to what to do. Besides enamel ware you’ll see I have a thing for old suitcases too. So voila! My solution. And yes, they are filled with stuff too! Here is where I keep all my most used tools and inks. The other side holds my paper cutter, heat tool, and glue gun. Essentials of paper crafting.Underneath the suitcases I have another case that holds some of my collection of old books and sheet music.

Finally, I’ll end this long post with my view from my window. I do love it! We live with a park in our backyard and it is a great view. While I want to move down the hall to a bigger room some day when my youngest flies from the nest. I have to admit, the view won’t be the same. It is ALMOST enough to make me stay but space is an awfully huge draw. Think of how many vintage suitcases and enamel ware pieces I could get!!!!

I can’t believe I won!!!

I was so blessed yesterday to wake up and check my analytic page to see quite a jump in traffic to this little site. Then with further investigation I found that most were directed here from Miss Mustard Seed. It took a few seconds as it was 4:15 in the morning (I’ll tell why in a moment) but the thought popped in- “I WON!” I quickly scrambled to her site to find out it was true. I won a package from Periwinkle Pass of Annie Sloan Chalk Paint! Oh how I’ve wanted to try this stuff. And now I can. Woo Hoo!

Here’s what can be done by a master aka Miss Mustard Seed.

Now why I was up at 4:15. For those of you who’ve had a colonoscomy, I don’t need to say any more. I was having that procedure as well as an endoscope being done yesterday. I was up to finish off my cocktail of horrid stuff to finish the prep. Of course feeling ever so sorry for myself. This being also the week of my son’s graduation and open house at OUR house this weekend. Couldn’t have been worse timing but that’s another story. So why on this blog am I sharing this personal story? Well, to say that I just felt God loving on me with the blessing of this discovery of my winnings and such a huge jump in my blog activity. (I’m a newbie with few followers yet)

So, if you’ve never been here WELCOME! and please, please take a look around. I wouldn’t be complete in my begging if I didn’t ask for you to become a follower as well. =]

I’ll leave you with a few of my favorite photos from .

Sweet Music To My Ears!

Over the weekend I found a treasure for a bargainAll this great music for just $1.  I couldn’t believe no one had snatched this up yet. There were pieces that were from the 50′s and 60′s from the likes of Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby. What a score. Now my piano playing days are long gone but I knew this would make for some great art! I had just seen this great tutorial on line a few days before at Graphics Fairy. While I have a lot of vintage suitcases, I don’t have a little one like this. So until I do, I made some cards out of some music pages.I’m linking this up with At Home With K
